I bought this shirt thinking I was gonna need extra protection for my ribs and shoulders. I can admit it helps me feel a little safer when playing but my shoulder pads do the trick just as well. ( my pads have a small wrap around portion where the straps hook up.) I've been hit numerous times and have gotten back up when just wearing this alone, the best part of this shirt is the shoulder pads ( I play CB) because it gives a little extra cushion when tacking or being tackled. The rib and back protection are good to have but I personally do not need them for what i'm doing. Great product to have all in all.
