I'm shooting this target with a 397 grain arrow at 305 fps, which is generating about 82 ft-lbs of kinetic energy. The problem is that the arrows are going completely through the target with about 4-6 inches sticking out of the back side. This in itself wouldn't be a problem except that when the arrows come through the back side, they are pushing out chunks of material and leaving dime size holes in the opposite side.

When the arrows are pulled, the "front" heals nicely, but the backside is getting destroyed. I've only shot 30 arrows and the opposite side looks like it's been through the ringer already. I'm concerned that VERY SOON the loss of backside material will start allowing pass throughs. My only alternative is to shoot the bullseye on the ends, as the depth is greater than the width and the arrows shouldn't make it all the way through that end. Which pretty much defeats the purpose of buying a "deer" target to practice for that moment of truth.

Needless to say, I'm highly disappointed. Sigh

If you are shooting an arrow/speed combination that yields less than about 65-70 ft-lbs of kinetic energy, (maybe less) this target would be ideal, because, as I said, the front of the target heals nicely and looks like it would take alot of punishment if the arrows around going through the back. If you are shooting a speed bow with light arrows, or a moderately fast bow with heavy arrows, BEWARE!! You're not going to get very much target usage.
