Hitch shop said I needed to cut/splice wires and this product wouldnt work. I plugged it in and had working trailer lights in about 5 minutes. For the power to the module I recommend getting a 12volt plug from radio shack and using the 12volt outlet in the trunk. I usually unplug this when no in use, but if it is left plugged it it does not drain the battery.
