MTB Mountain Bike Short Black - Size XX-Large Review

Bought these without the benefit of reviews by previous owners. So here is what I think after 3 days and three short (6 mile) bike excursions.
I bought these in medium (31-33) as I have a 34 inch waist. They are snug in the elastic waist (I like that) and I don't have to use the drawstring.

The positives:
1. Good fit per the sizing chart
2. Quality construction with lightweight fabrics
3. Deep front pockets - really deep
4. Good padding (more on this in the narrative below)
5. Fit slightly above my knees when riding with no "grabbing" anywhere and nice airflow.
6. Machine wash and dry
7. And last but not least - THEY ARE MADE IN THE USA!!! Kudos to Aero Tech Design for doing their manufacturing here.

The cons:
Two very minor issues.
1. The padded insert is only attached at the waistband so when you slide them off it pulls out and you have to feed it back into each leg. This is one reason the shorts are so comfortable and don't bind anywhere since the insert is free-moving. This is a plus for a good reason and a "niggling" con for the 5 seconds it takes me to set them up for the next time I put them on.

2. As mentioned, the pockets are VERY deep but do not have a closure so if you did take a spill or are prone to standing on your head you may have a slight chance of losing things out of the pockets, doubtful as they are deep and very soft which means the pockets would probably sag closed if you were upside down.

Okay, I'm an old guy who has just gotten back into riding - volunteering at a place three miles from where I live and ride my bike there every chance I get for the exercise and gas saving. These shorts are so much more comfortable as far as being breathable than my old Cannondale "tighties" which have chamois padding.

I wear the ATBs under my jeans or slacks and remove them when I get to work. Big difference as far as heat retention from my old bike shorts.

The padding in the ATBs took a bit of getting used to as it covers more area, but that is actually a positive.

I'm very happy with the purchase so far and will update this review if more pros or cons are uncovered as I wear them more.
