This unit works great on my pontoon boat. No moving parts and "marinized" for use on the water. HOWEVER, because it has a remote control (that I never use), it is always on, even when the power is turned off using the power button on the unit. So it is always draining a small amount of power from the battery, enough in fact, to nearly drain the battery after a week of the boat not being used. I tried wiring the unit without connecting the "constant on" lead, but it won't work without it. So I had to wire in a toggle switch on the dash to kill the connection to the battery when the boat is docked. Not much cost, but a bit of a hassle.
